 In January 2008, Lucy designed a second
mold - Heifer and Friends - to benefit a wonderful organization founded in 1944, with the mission of ending hunger and poverty while
caring for the earth. Rather than just supplying food,
Heifer International gives families
in need livestock and training in sustainable environmentally sound agriculture.
Each family is then required to “pass it on”, by giving one
or more offspring from their family’s Heifer animal to another family. And
on it goes. This is a long term solution that fosters dignity and self reliance.
